Global competition has placed the machine tool industry under increased price and cost pressure. For the Diedesheim Works in the Hüller Hille Group this means specializing in only one product. Since the merger in 1994, Diedesheim has been systematically expanded into a Centers works. Since then the Diedesheim Works has developed a completely new generation of processing centers and is marketing them internationally.
Company history
The Diedesheim engineering factory was established in 1947 by Dr. Georg W. Reinhard. The company originated as an external factory for Daimler-Benz and was set up on the site of a former Portland cement works in Diedesheim. Initially it only repaired machine tools and produced spare parts for motor vehicles. But it soon started developing and producing its own machine tools. The major developments from the Diedesheim Works included the front-operated lathe, vertical lathes, multi-travel machines, drill-head centers, and machines designed to special order for the motor and pipe fittings industries. A milestone along the path to becoming a pioneer in flexible manufacturing occurred in 1983 when the first flexible system ever built for major series production of cylinder heads and cylinder blocks, was delivered to the motor manufacturer Opel (General Motors) in Rüsselsheim in 1984.
